STENCIL POSTER DESIGN
A stencil poster design created with Adobe Illustrator. The poster's intent is to promote an open discussion about the controversial topic of "cultural appropriation."
WORK IN PROGRESS
My aim was to present a different perspective towards the current overheated cultural appropriation controversy.
In my initial design, I displayed two examples of cultural appropriation - dreadlock hair, one of the common example, and Sushi, the odd example (image 1). After getting some feedback, I decided to get rid of the second text line “Chill Out~” and made it more open question(image 2).
To add more context to the design, I included three additional examples that are supposedly “culturally appropriating”; Hip Hop music, a Chinese dress, and Hijab - to represent cultural diversity (image 3), and added the text (image 4).
FINAL DESIGN

I laser cut the cardboard and created the stencil board.
